Buddhist Blessing for the New Year!!

I'm not a Buddhist, nor do you need to be to enjoy this blessing. May 2010 be one of your best!! Happy New Year!!

Just as water flowing in the stream and rivers fills the ocean, thus may all your moments of goodness touch and benefit all beings, those here now and those gone before.

May all your wishes be soon fulfilled as completely as the moon on a full-moon night, as successfully as from the Wish-Fulfilling Gem. May all dangers be averted; may all disease leave you.

May no obstacles come across your way and may you enjoy happiness and long life.

May those who are always respectful, honoring the way of the elders, prosper in the four blessings of old age, beauty, happiness, and strength.

Embarassing Moment

Love this story...

I was pleasantly surprised to be seated next to a very handsome man during a conference. We flirted casually through dinner, then grew restless as the dignitaries gave speeches. During one particularly long-winded lecture, my new friend drew a # sign on a cocktail napkin. Elated, I wrote down my phone number. Looking startled for a moment, he drew another # sign, this time adding an X to the upper-left-hand corner.

10 Great Photography Quotations

To me, photography is an art of observation. It's about finding something interesting in an ordinary place... I've found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see. ~Elliott Erwitt

I think the best pictures are often on the edges of any situation, I don't find photographing the situation nearly as interesting as photographing the edges. ~William Albert Allard

Of course, there will always be those who look only at technique, who ask "how," while others of a more curious nature will ask "why." Personally, I have always preferred inspiration to information. ~Man Ray

It takes a lot of imagination to be a good photographer. You need less imagination to be a painter, because you can invent things. But in photography everything is so ordinary; it takes a lot of looking before you learn to see the ordinary. ~David Bailey

You don't take a photograph, you make it ~Ansel Adams

Photographers deal in things which are continually vanishing and when they have vanished there is no contrivance on earth which can make them come back again. ~Henri Cartier-Bresson

No place is boring, if you've had a good night's sleep and have a pocket full of unexposed film ~Robert Adams

There are always two people in every picture: the photographer and the viewer ~Ansel Adams

Your equipment DOES NOT affect the quality of your image. The less time and effort you spend worrying about your equipment the more time and effort you can spend creating great images. The right equipment just makes it easier, faster or more convenient for you to get the results you need. ~Ken Rockwell

If I could tell the story in words, I wouldn't need to lug around a camera. ~Lewis Hine

His name is Nick H-e-x-u-m

"Somebody pointed out to me that the point of a relationship is to relate. Humans need to hear other people that they can relate with and have similar thoughts and feelings. When you can provide that through art, when people say, 'That's the same way I feel,' then that's a masterpiece. The more honest we get with what's going on in our hearts, the more people connect with it and feel it." ~Nick Hexum of 311

excerpt from a recent interview via Artist Direct.

Smart guy who's looking good with a mohawk. :) Can't wait to see 311 live on MONDAY!!!! If you haven't already checked out their new album Uplifter, you can listen to the album in its entirety here. Week down the Jersey Shore

back from the beach!! i spent last week down the jersey shore with my mother, her boyriend, my boyfriend ricardo, my cousin vincent and my best friend andrea. lindsay stayed over for a night too. :) we had a lot of fun and i took a lot of great shots. everyone was getting testy about my compulsive photo taking but everyone always wants copies of alllll the shots i take... which is kind of uh, hypocritical. i took a lot of photos, but i wish i took even more. you can see some of the photos here.

here are some highlights of the trip: buying boogie boards and only using them once; lindsay and vincent doing sake shots; getting kicked off the beach at night; having an audience at the photo booth; some drunk lady asking "are you going to put these [photos] on youtube?!"; playing tennis for the first time in over a year; buying over $200 worth of groceries at the beginning of the week and then continually buying food every day after that; honey straws; getting kicked off the playground at night; suntan lotion back massages; seafood fest night; my italian cousin and his irish drinking songs; the ghetto shot glasses i made; vincent and rick quoting movies alllll week long; my mom's boyfriend thinking someone stole one of his flip flops; begrudgingly going jet skiing; embracing the octomat; heckling anyone who might be "doing a stinky poo-poo"; our new found love for the game of life board game; buying painted sea shells for 50 cents from the kids down the street; and the tan line the "hulk out" removable tattoo left on rick's arm.

i will be in new jersey for a month, visiting friends and family and taking lots of photos. :)

voicemail i just can't erase

and the "voicemail-i-just-can't-erase" award goes to my best friend andrea who left me this hysterical message awhile back...

"ohmygod jena, you'll never guess who just added me as a friend on facebook. let's see, it's someone from our past who we gave psychological counseling to... no, not **** *****, but good guess." ~andrea

the best part is it's true, and i knew exactly who she was talking about.

sigh, i love my best friend.

text messaging is the new instant messaging.

we've all been guilty of texting mini paragraphs to our friends instead of simply calling them (or at least most of us have). texting a quick yes/no question especially if you're limited on time is very convenient but recently i found myself making plans through text messaging. and no matter what you may think, text messaging (especially on an ordinary cell phone) is much more time consuming than actually having to make the dreaded phone call. a general rule of thumb should be if you dread having to call someone that much to simply make plans then maybe you're really not in the mood to hang out with that person. in fact, there are only three reasons why you should text someone instead of calling them:
1. it's too noisy for you to make a phone call
2. you're at work and shouldn't be using a phone
3. you just want someone to know you are thinking about him/her

you should NOT use text messaging:
1. to make plans
2. to flake out/cancel on someone
3. as a substitution to a phone call

the best situation is when someone you haven't spoken to in a really long time texts you and asks things like "how are you?/how's life?/what's new?" sure it's nice to hear from them, but it's also impossible to answer such questions via text messaging.

people now rely on having conversations without having to see/hear/be near the other party. sure that's convenient but it's also making people more socially awkward. so the next time you're compelled to text an interesting anecdote to your friend, call instead. not only will he or she appreciate hearing your voice but you'll both do something you probably haven't done in a while -- have a a real conversation.

don't get me wrong, i'm not a text message-hater, but i just think people shouldn't rely on texting to keep in touch. can we honestly say our lives are "too busy" to make a 15 minute phone call???

as i mentioned before, texting to allow someone to know you are thinking about him/her is appreciated. here are some amusing texts i've recently received:

01.07.08
zac: I did a search on a new search engine to try to find your flickr page. I searched Jena Ardell and two porn links came up. One was about eskimoes. I won't be using that search engine anymore.

01.02.08
zac: P.s. I was reading all the old notes online. They are funny and most of the stuff is still true. I still want to kick mike in the sac.

01.01.08
mom: FwdIt's new year's eve & before i get drunk, high, naked and lose my damn phone.. Happy New Year! Best wishes to you and yours in 08.

12.29.07
lindsay: Ohmygod thats alot of underwear

12.28.07
ricardo: And you better be madly in love with me woman! i won't accept just a little bit of lovin!

12.23.07
scott: Ha ha no Jena its not ok you need to look your best 4 me ha ha jk i dont care lol Dork.

11.29.07
andrea: I have free texting now! lol get ready

and of course picture messaging is also a lot fun but relying on your cell phone to be your digital camera... ugh, that's another can of worms.

don't feel bad if our Christmas cards are better than yours.

so my mom and i ordered our Christmas cards tonight that we are sending to family and friends. we've never done this, but this year we opted to create the annoying picture-postcard kind.

here's the conversation we had. just TRY to guess our "theme," hahaha:

my mom: which one do you want to be?
jena: why?? are there going to be arrows pointing to who's who??
my mom: no, but in my head i'm thinking of who i wanna be...
me: which is susan serandon??
my mom: what?? no, you look more like geena davis...
me: well, i'm just asking. i dunno who's who!!

to help you visualize our holiday postcards: we uploaded a photo of the two of us on the Grand Canyon Skywalk. next to the photo, it says "May your Holiday Season be one Grand Adventure!" and underneath... "Love, Thelma & Louise." hahaha!! i love my mom!!

(feel free to reread the title again now... ;) hehehe).

after being accused of being 15, jena and andrea defy gravity... or at least attempt to.

my best friend andrea is visiting from NY this week and here's what trouble we've gotten ourselves into so far...

monday night: we exchanged belated birthday gifts, ate thai food, bought crap at walmart, went food shopping (andrea bought us groceries), and rick and andrea passed out early.

tuesday: went to the bank to cash some checks and one of the managers said to me: "this is the first time i've seen you without your boyfriend!!" then we went into an overpriced boutique-ish store where the owner asked...

owner: can we help you find anything??
me: no just looking...
owner: are you looking for homecoming dresses?? what school do you go to??
andrea: no, we're done with school.
me: we're 23...

then they went on and on about how looking like we're 15 is a good thing and how we'll be thankful when we're 60 and how they'd like to know what our mothers look like.

do we look like we're 15?!!

...i guess so.

afterward, we hiked up the canyon, got some jamba juice and headed to malibu. it wasn't the warmest day for the beach. in fact, we were the only people on the beach (besides one couple) but we climbed on some rocks and attempted to take photos of ourselves jumping in the air at the same time with the self timer. we weren't too successful... but at least we have some unflattering photos of ourselves, hahaha:

not even close...

whoa...

nope, try again...

not yet...

almost there...

finally!!!!

reason #2435 why we need a camera guy/crew following us around at all times. ;)

after the beach, we went to the library. andrea read about space and black holes (she wants to marry an astrophysicist) and i read People and skimmed through a photography magazine. later, we watched Shaun of the Dead, gave each other best friend foot rubs and went on and on about how cute miss gray is... oh wait, i do that alll the time. ;)

what we've done so far.

wednesday: went to a taping of the ellen show. my mom and i were on tv!! :) and everyone in the audience received season three of Grey's Anatomy. (mine's for sale on ebay because i don't watch the show). we saw ellen pull out of the parking lot AS SOON AS the show let out. she waved, but didn't stop like jay leno did. my mom and i still can't believe they make allll that money and only work 1 hour a day. i think i'm in the wrong profession. : P

on our way home, my mom and i stopped at Trader Joes (my mom wasn't impressed) and then headed to Whole Foods (bigger, better selection). we made tilapia and during dinner we watched The Pledge.

thursday: beautifully warm beach day!! hung out in malibu all afternoon. took lots of beachy photos (to be uploaded on flickr). saw a photo shoot Rachel Hunter (Rod Stewart's ex-wife). chatted with the AD. left my name and number with the photographer for possible future PA jobs - nice lady, but i highly doubt she'll ever call me.

aldo stopped by and ate dinner with me, my mom and rick. we watched Wild Hogs which was pretty funny. comedies usually aren't my thing though (unless they're from 1989-1999, like What about Bob? or Black Sheep). i beat my mom in scrabble AGAIN, hehe.

friday: rainy, dreary day. went to radio shack (to buy a camera charger for hal since the one rick ordered online wasn't advertised accurately). then my mom and i went to two estate sales, a yard sale, a vege/fruit stand, a gardening center, the food store and the bank. (busy afternoon!!) my mom bought an artist's (Bill Anton) print of a Marlboro-looking man with a horse. and i bought an odd statue of dogs dancing and some other knick-knacky stuff.

saturday: worked a cosmetic promo. met a nice guy named Lyndon who gave me lots and lots of shampoo and conditioner samples (in such cute little bottles!!) my mom booked all of our arizona reservations, went for a hike and lounged by the pool. she was itching to go to the Viper Room, but i wasn't too keen on the idea. i'm more of a homebody. here's how the convo went:

me: you should be glad your daughter would rather stay home and make crafts instead of going to the Viper Room!!
mom: no, YOU should be glad your mother would rather go to the Viper Room instead of staying home and watching Doris Day!!

(yes, i had checked out Pillow Talk from the library).

and then she called me a "deadhead."

we were also contemplating going to a local country western bar, but we went to PetSmart, made Roxie a dog tag, my mom bought cosmopolitan mix, we ate dinner and watched A Simple Plan instead. we're going to the Viper Room next week. :)

what we did to roxie in PetSmart:

plans for tomorrow: heading back to malibu. or going kyaking and visiting rick's parents. and packing. :)

"Live! Life's a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death!" ~Auntie Mame

i like to watch old movies. recently (this week and last), i watched:

Inherit the Wind: good movie, great acting but i prefer the book... but i'm biased because it's one of my favorite books. i haven't read the book since 2003-2004 and i'm sure it states this fact, but i never pictured Henry Drummond to be that old. (Drummond is the attorney for Cates, the man on trial for teaching evolution in school). very few minor differences seperate the movie from the published screenplay.

Auntie Mame: long, but worth the watch. a tale of an eccentric woman/aunt and her nephew as told in classic 1950s style. (lots of upbeat instrumental jazz music between and during scenes; subtle innuendos; and awesome "modern" decor). the story was actually a play, once starring Lucille Ball.

most memorable quote:
"Live! Life's a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death!" ~Auntie Mame

Rebel Without a Cause: first time i've ever seen a james dean movie and honestly, i was expecting more. his acting was great, but i imagined him having a deeper, manlier voice and being more handsome. (but i guess he had that sensitive guy thing going for him). after watching one of the first scenes, i turned to rick and said, "i think james franco makes a better james dean."

cool part:
a majority of the movie was filmed at the griffith observatory.

My Man Godfrey: a classic "screwball" comedy. the plot: rich folks get their kicks playing scavenger hunts. one of the itmes on the list: "a forgotten man." (aka: a bum). girl falls in love with bum she finds at the city dump, makes him her family's new butler. comedy ensues. evil sister hates him because he wouldn't be her forgotten man, but there's more to him than meets the eye. rick and i both enjoyed it up until the very ending. we didn't want him to end up with her... but the movie ends before anything is official... so maybe he didn't end up with her. (don't worry, i didn't ruin the movie, you can still watch it).

funny quote from the movie:
Angelica Bullock: You mustn't come between Irene and Godfrey. He's the first thing she's shown any affection for since her pomeranian died last summer.

the truth about cats

my new favorite quote:
"Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea."
-Robert A. Heinlein

so my boyfriend and i always debate over the cleanliness of cats. the latest scenario: we have a blanket at the apartment that we used when we picked up the desk i bought on craigslist. the blanket really belongs to magoo, my boyfriend's dog. the blanket SMELLS like a dog so it has found a new home outside on our balcony until we return it to rick's parents' house. in the meantime though, miss gray is willing to call it her own. but before she could even make herself comfy, rick runs outside, shoos her off the blanket then throws a crappy tablecloth over the blanket. why??? good question. he thinks little miss gray (who is self-sufficient and self-cleaning) is dirtier than his smelly, yet likeable dog magoo. his reasoning: gray digs in a cat box containing her own feces. good point, but miss gray also washes her paws. and so the debate continues, often with amusing little conversations like these:

rick: she digs around in her own piss and shit!!
jena: but then she cleans herself...
rick: yeah, but with her tongue!!
jena: so, the cat's tongue is like a comb.
rick: well, then if you shit on a comb and comb your hair with it...
jena: no, no that's not the same thing.

so i found a discussion board that supports my theory that cats aren't hazardous to our health. the best part is that the pro-cat people make it seem like the anti-fecal people are crazy for thinking a cat is the least bit dirty. my favorite response was this:

"Yes you are most definitely being way too over protective and paranoid. I have 9 cats and my kids hardly ever got sick. I mean the cats would eat off of our plates while we were eating and they walk on the kitchen counters too. Sitting on our lap after using the litter box, well no problems there. This whole thing has been going on now for over 16 years. Maybe once or twice a year we will get a cold but that doesn't mean we got it from the cats. If you are that worried about it, then you need to find your cat a new home. It's beyond me why people always think it's the cats fault and why all of the sudden the cat becomes a dirty filthy animal."

in my best cat impersonation... MRRRRRRRAAAAWWRR!!!

my rebuttal to rick's germ argument is this: we NEED germs to stay healthy. :) bottom line: as long as you aren't licking your cat's paws, then you should be fine and need not worry about cat germs.

on the subject of animals, here's another good quote:
"She's a nonstop, super hyperactive, pardon the expression.. little piece of shit."
-my grandmother talking about my [mother's] dog.

rick and jena quotations

rick and i usually write down funny things we say and stick them in an email draft that's been forming over the past three years. this might fall into that "you had to be there" category, but here are some funny quotations we've jotted down this week:

*after handing miss gray a kidney bean and she refused it*
jena: she just looked at me and said "W.T.F!!"

*after rick gets all touchy over me threatening to add lettuce to his salad, thus ruining his lettuce-to-other-stuff ratio*
jena: ohmygawd, if i was how you just were [being] over my salad, you'd make fun of me.
rick: probably. but that's what makes you better than me.

*after rick (who is lying on the floor) picks up miss gray and puts her on his chest*
rick: jena said you like this gray.
*two seconds later*
rick: ...OWWW!!!!

sugar and spice and everything nice...

that's what little girls are made of.

funny story:
rick and i were doing dishes and making dinner when rick saw two little girls from our kitchen window. they were outside their apartment gathering painting supplies.

"we should go paint with them," he said.
the girls had paint up and down their arms and one was holding a shallow cardboard box with a string attached around her neck.
"they're not painting, they're selling stuff," i said.
"No, they're painting," rick reiterated.
"i should know... i was once a little girl."

so rick continues with the dishes and i step into the living room. miss gray lets out a loud "MRRRREOWWW" and the doorbell rings.

"who is it???" i whisper to rick.
rick, not wanting to say who it was since they could see him throught the kitchen window says, "you'll see."

during the .15 seconds i hesitated to open the door, my mind raced. at first i thought it was someone from our apartment complex office. then i imagined it was aldrin stopping by to show off his new miniature golden retriever puppy.

but to my surprise... it was those two little girls. SELLING STUFF. finger paintings and faces painted on cardboard squares. that's why rick didn't want to admit who was at the door. i almost couldn't contain myself.

"would you like to buy some paintings???" the little blonde with the box asked.
"these are crosses and this is God," the other little girl said. "and this one is rock n' roll man. and this this best one... these are flowers..."

i forget what they were calling them, people-somethings, but i bought one for 25 cents although one of the little girls was even "going to make a deal" with me if i bought one of the finger paintings. (it would be 25 cents instead of 35 cents).

here's what i bought:

on the back:

"sorry about the tape," the little girl with the box around her neck said. "it was the best girl one, so that's why it was on display."
"and this is the best guy one," the other little girl chimed in pointing to the other painting attached to the string.

after i paid my quarter, the little blonde girl glanced at her friend with "holy-crap-i-can't-believe-this-is-working/we're-going-to-be-rich" smile. and that made it all worth it.

and as soon as i shut the door, rick got a big "i told you so!!!!"

i had to call my mother to tell her the story. "doesn't rick know about all the crap you used to try to sell???" she asked. (my dad's biker friends used to have to visit my "store" in my treehouse and, of course, feel obligated to buy whatever little trinkets i was pushing. i also used to sell stuff to raise money to save the manatees. and once i made my grandparents pay to join my club where they'd receive homemade arts & crafts every month). i guess it's just one of those things little girls do. i wonder if i could get away with it now. ;)

my grandmother's reply:
good morning jena; I read your blog this morning and remembered visiting your gift shop or treehouse store. i remembered how you would sell me and ed things that we had bought for you. we didn't even get a discount. everything had prices on them and that was it, quite the little business girl when all else failed you would smile and look cute, that clinched the sale for sure.
talk to you later love gram xoxoxoxoxox

mystery solved.

just have to share a hilarious moment that happened while i was on my grandmother's laptop (that once belonged to my cousin). i was on the log-on page when i asked...

me: so, did we ever find out what Bohica means??? what kind of name is that?! it's gotta mean something...

my grandmother: yeah, it means "bend over, here it comes again..." anthony and vincent made it.

me: *dumbfounded* and laughing.

HAHAHAHAHA. aye my grandmother. gotta love her. <3

one day i will write a post that doesn't include a movie review...

but today is not that day. ;) hahaha.

friday: worked for michael/finished up some wedding albums. rick and i watched Children of Men, a post-apocalyptic movie set in england in 2027. it was a really griping film. definitely held our attention but then, the movie just ends. abruptly. which made me really disappointed (unless they make a sequel). however, after rationizing with myself, i finally concluded that it was acceptable for the movie to just end like that because the movie is based on a book and a book would end like that. but apparently (i've heard) the book is pretty lousy and the movie is waaaaaaaay better (and much different) from the book.

saturday: worked a promo event. rick met me for lunch and brought me cantaloupe. since the promo was in a store, people usually ask me where certain products are and usually i don't know the answer. so one guy approached me and said (with an english accent) "allo, love!! how are you today???" i inhaled, preparing myself to give the whole "i don't really work here" spiel... but to my surprise he simply said, "you have very nice eyes and eyelashes. but don't tell nobody." hahaha. another funny quotation occurred as an old lady was approaching me. she had a sample of some sort of drink. after taking a sip, she stopped in front of me, with a disgusted look on her face and said, "this tastes like that old milk of magnesia my mother used to give me when i wouldn't go to the bathroom." i laughed as she proceeded to finish drinking the rest.

after work, rick and i went food shopping and then watched Pan's Labyrinth while eating dinner. it's a spanish movie about a little girl's fantasy world as she deals with living in facist spain (1944) as the "step-daughter of a sadistic army officer." i was worried that i wouldn't like it because i'm not a fan of science fiction, but rick and i had heard good things and imdb.com gave it an 8.5. however, after watching it, we both felt the movie didn't deserve that high of a rating. it's captivating and all, but it didn't live up to all of its hype.

cd i finally listened to and wasn't all that impressed with: G-Love's "Lemonade." (but it is kewl the cd looks like a lemon).

cd i can't stop listening to because all of the songs are so good on it and it reminds me of summer: Foo Fighters "There is Nothing Left to Lose." Mmmm.

FACT: "There is Nothing Left to Lose" won a grammy in 2000 for "Best Rock Album."
FACT: early editions of the album came with an "FF" temporary tattoo... which i still have and am always tempted to wear whenever i see it. :)
FACT: David Eric Grohl is the Peter Pan of Rock n' Roll.

aye, my grandmother.

my grandmother is an avid reader of my blog and after reading my last entry, this paragraph in particular:

"by sunday i was itching to hug miss gray and eat lots of pretzels and upload more photos onto flickr. and rick was itching to play resident evil. hehehe."

my grandmother wanted to know...

"why did you call [rick] the evil resident???"

hahahaha!! i love my grandmother.

H O M E

recap so far:

the weekend: as soon as i arrived in nj, my mom and i ordered thai food to go and ate it over my grandmother's house. i went food shopping with my grandmother and visited my aunt. i made hummus!! i put a little too much garlic in it, but it was still good. i took a lot of photos of my aunt's bengal kitten, monte. and my mother and i played scrabble. she won :(

monday: went to kohl's with my grandmother. bought a few things. went to the park with my mom and roxie. walked 4 miles!! (shesh). met roxie's new best friend, a cocker spaniel pup named phoebe, hehe. my mom and i wound up eating dinner over my grandmother's house. i baked a cake for my mom's birthday. i didn't follow any directions, modified all of the ingredients, mixed two different cake mixes together and added a lot of sprinkles to the batter... and it came out like a giant, colorful pound cake... which is what i was hoping for. then i cut it in half, created two layers and filled the middle with a layer of cool whip and strawberries... mMmm!! i also covered the top of the cake with cool whip and strawberries as well.

tuesday:
my mom's birthday!! she liked the card i made her and her presents :) i also had decorated a few areas of the house with b-day banners and wrote on the bathroom mirror with lipstick, hehe. we went to sandy hook for the day, laid on the beach, took some polaroids, ate seafood and had a good day!! when we got home, we sang to my mom and had cake with my dad's niece and her kids. my grandmother stopped by and my former 2nd grade teacher/family friend, mrs. m, stopped by. we wound up watching the "gilmore girls" (the season ends next week!!) and "dancing with the stars." poor billie ray cyrus...

wednesday: went to the dermatologist for a general check up and to see about a strange bite that appeared on my arm. i was worried it was a tick bite, but luckily it's not. i went to a few stores with my grandmother. i ate dinner with my mom then went over my friend justin's house (hadn't seen him since new years!!) and we watched Strangers With Candy, the movie. honestly, i was disappointed... the movie wasn't as funny as i had hoped. i thought the movie would be a bizarre little cult classic that continued where the tv show had left off, but instead the story starts from the beginning and the whole movie is merely a weak recreation. some of the same jokes are recycled from the tv show and they just fizzle. it would have been acceptable if the movie spawned the tv show but for the tv show to spawn this movie... such a shame. they could have done so much with this movie!! :(

thursday: went over my grandmother's house and watched The Holiday, which i've already seen but really enjoyed and thought my grandmother would enjoy it as well. my mom and i took my poor cat to the vet because he's been having trouble with one of his eyes. it's inflamed, goopy and he won't open it. turns out he has "a crater" in his cornea. YEOUCH!! the vet had to cut his cornea some more just so it can heal. poor cat. he's still really out of it and woozy from the anaesthetic and medication the vet had to give him in order to poke around in his eye socket. it gave me the chills. we still have no idea how it happened... he's an inside/outside cat, so it could have been a number of things. he's a trooper though... the vet was surprised hexum was acting like his normal self because most cats would have been reclusive and moody if they had a huge gouge in their cornea!!

friday: i'm going to work with my cousin. he owns a martial arts school and i will be filing and organizing/cleaning the offices. on saturday i might help out with a birthday party at the school... it's teenage mutant ninja turtles party!! hehe.

random quotes from my grandmother:
when driving past a group of kids with shaggy hair and skateboards: "look at those little weiners!!"
and...
"when i do the speed limit, i feel like i'm not moving!!"
